Talking Jerome Kersey with Mac McDonald and Hall of Famer Ralph Sampson

Ralph Sampson

I recently was a guest on “Center Court Podcast” in Virginia, co-hosted by Mac McDonald and former NBA All-Star Ralph Sampson.

We talked about my most recent book project, “Jerome Kersey: Overcoming the Odds.” Sampson offered his recollections of fellow Virginia native Kersey, whom he didn’t know until Jerome reached the NBA in 1984. The 7-4 Sampson — one of the great college big men ever while at the University of Virginia — played seven years of his injury-shortened nine-year NBA career against Trail Blazer teams featuring Kersey.

McDonald steered the conversation in different directions. Near the end, we discussed the NCAA Transfer Portal and its Name, Imagine and Likeness (NIL). Ralph and I had different opinions on that subject.

Thanks to Mac and Ralph for having me on. Readers, please have a listen.
