Diggin’ deep with Dusty

Dusty Harrah from 1080 The Fan radio station in Portland, Oregon

Dusty Harrah

I was on Tuesday June 7, 2022, with host Dusty Harrah to serve as guest for one of his “Dusty and Friends” segments on his afternoon show on KFXX AM (The Fan). This wasn’t just an eight-minute shot. This was a two-hour mini-documentary covering more ground than Eric Dickerson covered in 1983.

Off air, I learned that Dusty’s father is Andy Harrah, the former Oregon running back and long-time coach. And that he has two kids, aged eight and five, who keep him more than busy — not that he isn’t busy, anyway, working his radio gig along with coaching football at Banks High.

Dusty was well-prepared as we covered my childhood and professional career. We talked about books and Phil Knight and Name, Image and Likeness, and the Blazers and Oregon State baseball and a lot of other topics. It was fun, and I hope listeners were entertained.

Thanks for devoting most of a show to me and my work, Dusty. You’re a pro’s pro in a tough business. Good job.
